Facebook has Enabled Video Covers:  How to Do It?

Facebook is well known for its ability to attract attention and draw their users to pages of interest. Facebook has introduced their newest feature, which is the ability to add a Video Cover.

Facebook has been placing more emphasis on videos with the Facebook Live. This feature has helped friends stay in touch as well as enabled entrepreneurs to expand their on-line businesses.  With Facebook Live one can advertise the date and time of their presentation to give viewers the opportunity to plan their schedules ahead of time. Other video enhancements have come to Facebook such as profile videos, Facebook stories, etc.

So, the latest addition to Facebook is the Video Cover. This feature uses a video to replace the cover photo of a person or business. The goal of the video cover is to help users connect with their audience by drawing attention to the cover of their page.  This video can be 20-90 seconds and a minimum of 820 x 312 pixels.

• How To Do It

You realize the having an attention getting Facebook video cover will get the attention of your market, so you have decided to utilize this feature.  Here’s how you do it:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Facebook on your iOS device.  Open the Facebook app and tap the “More” button that you will find on the lower right.  (It looks like 3 horizontal lines stacked together.)
2. Locate and tap the, “View your Profile” button at the top.
3. Tap the video camera icon located at the bottom right of your profile picture.
4. A menu should open that gives you the following options:
   1. Take a New Profile Video
   2. Select Profile Video
   3. Select Profile Picture
   4. View Profile Video
   5. Cancel
   6. You will also have to allow this application to access your camera and videos.
5. Select “View Profile Video”. The “trim” button allows you to alter the length of the video. You do this by tapping the “Trim” button and dragging in on either side to shorten the video. You can also elect to turn the sound off or on.
6. If necessary, you can use the “Crop” button (found at the bottom of the page) the make the video square.
7. Next you will tap the “Cover” button to choose a frame for the video.   This becomes the Facebook video thumbnail in News Feeds of your friends. Once you have chosen the cover, tap “Use.”  Congratulations, your have successfully set up your video to be seen on your profile page.
